Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of OTP Buddy, which forwards email-based verification codes to your phone via SMS. By using OTP Buddy, you agree to these Terms.
You control Gmail access
You connect Google only through Google's official consent screen and can revoke access anytime.
Fair & lawful use
OTP Buddy is for legitimate personal or business verification—not for abuse, fraud, or bypassing security controls.
Clear expectations
SMS and email depend on third-party networks; we strive for reliability but cannot guarantee instant delivery.
Privacy
Our data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.
1. Service description
OTP Buddy provides:
- Connection of your Google account (with your explicit permission) to access Gmail via Google's APIs
- Automated detection of messages that appear to contain one-time passwords or verification codes
- Delivery of those codes (or related short notifications) to a mobile phone number you provide, using SMS or similar channels
- Optional marking or handling of processed messages according to product settings
OTP Buddy is not a VPN, email hosting provider, or general email client. Features may change as we improve the product.
2. Eligibility and account
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction).
- You must provide accurate information, including a valid phone number in E.164 format.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and device.
- One person or entity should not operate multiple accounts to circumvent limits or abuse the service.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use OTP Buddy only in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms. You may not:
- Use the service to facilitate fraud, identity theft, harassment, or illegal activity
- Attempt to intercept, harvest, or forward others' OTPs without authorization, or bypass security measures of third-party services
- Send spam, phishing, or misleading messages through or in connection with the service
- Reverse engineer, overload, or disrupt the service or Google's APIs
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
Violation may result in suspension or termination without refund, where fees apply.
4. Paid plans and billing (if offered)
If OTP Buddy or related offerings include paid subscriptions, the following applies unless we specify otherwise at checkout:
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions may renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Billing: Charges are processed through our payment processor (e.g. Stripe). You authorize us and the processor to charge your payment method.
- Cancellation: You may cancel through account settings or by contacting support. Access typically continues until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds: Refund policies will be stated at purchase (e.g. money-back window). Unless required by law, fees for completed periods may be non-refundable.
If OTP Buddy is free during beta, this section may not apply until paid plans are offered.
5. Third-party services
OTP Buddy relies on Google (Sign-in and Gmail), telecommunications networks, and SMS providers. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for outages, policy changes, or actions by third parties outside our reasonable control.
6. Service availability
We aim for reliable operation but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, API limits, carrier delays, and force majeure events may affect availability. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.
7. Disclaimers
OTP Buddy is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that every OTP will be detected correctly or that SMS will arrive before a code expires.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OTP Buddy and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (USD $50), except where prohibited by law.
9. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify OTP Buddy and its team against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the service, violation of these Terms, or violation of third-party rights.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. We will post the updated Terms and revise the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance, except where additional consent is required by law.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country apply.
